About Me

Hi there and Welcome to my blog, Addicted to OPI-yum.

I started this blog in 2010 after purchasing the OPI nail polish Mad As A Hatter.  I thought it was so awesome I went online to see if anyone else thought so too.   After that I quickly became addicted to reading nail blogs and purchasing and wearing new nail polishes.

I moved three times in these two years, so my blog has been growing in fits and starts.  But now I am not moving any more so I am now able to focus more on writing my blog.  I am happily married to my nail polish enabler, nailtiger.  I wouldn't have imagined he could be so supportive of my nail polish obsession.

I began my fascination with nail polish at my grandmother's dressing table.  She allowed me to play with the beautiful bottles of swirly pearly polishes.  I  have some of her perfume bottles and the dressing table, but none of the polishes, sadly.

I love painting my nails and sharing my colors with you here.

I love to wear blue, purple,  orange, green and glitter nail polish, but not necessarily all at once.  I will not stop wearing crazy colors, ever.     I stopped wearing green after my teen years and put it away. Then I had my second childhood, starting around when I found Mad As A Hatter, and I am proudly wearing all kinds of green again.  Yep, that polish changed my life.

I like vintage, and recycling old things into something new.

I am scraping, sanding and painting my house this year, and my nails are very abused because of it.  But I try to keep them presentable.

I have always been obsessed with my nails.  In the past I have cut them short to make myself stop obsessing over them, I got so involved in caring for them it became annoying to myself.  But now that I have a blog I receive support for this activity, so I am quite narcissistic about my fingernails now.  I am a fingernail diva.

I probably average thirty minutes to an hour a day for doing my own nails.  I spend at least an hour a day online looking at nail blogs.

I intend to wear all the polishes I swatch for a day. Sometimes they come off faster, but the intention is always to actually wear the polish.  I don't do the swatch fest thing, applying and photographing multiple polishes at one session, though I truly admire the polishing persistence that takes.

I am continually amazed and inspired by the nail blogging community in all it's aspects.  I am excited about blogging here because I learn so many things all the time.  And I get to interact with you, my readers, which has been so exciting and  inspiring.  It has been so nice to "meet" you, and I look forward to getting to know you better. I want you to know that I appreciate each and every one of you so much!

I am very interested in other countries and cultures besides my own.  Please feel free to let me know about yourself in the comments, leave a link if you want to, and let me know where you are from.

Thank you for taking the time to visit me here!

Hugs and Flowers
